Living in a city with deep historic roots is something most of us take for granted. We see the historic markers in front of large brick building, noting when and who lived in these buildings of the mid 18th century. We have heard names, and maybe even recognize a few of the faces from statues scattered around Lancaster …but do we ever take time to learn the stories behind the names. About Face, seeks to provide a new perspective into the historic tales and truths of Lancaster’s diverse inhabitants.

We do not want to use this site to push our own events, BUT we couldn’t resist giving a sneak peek of our show for tonight. We are welcoming David Mazure to Lancaster. David is a professor at Eastern Tennessee University who lives and works in North Carolina. His work is tightly rendered, and beautiful. You can read his artist statement on The Infantree Gallery site.

This first friday Metropolis will be featuring Mike Egan and Ben Kehoe. Be sure to check them out.

Mike Egan
Following up on a sellout debut show at Metropolis, Mike Egan returns with another collection of fine art. One of the few if any current artists bringing a Modern bend to Folk Art, Egan’s work shows his lifelong interest in death mythology - primarily Mexican Day Of The Dead. Showing the influence of his time as a mortician, Egan’s paintings bring a new vision to the centuries-old imagery seen in orthodox churches and religious stained glass windows.

Ben Kehoe
Pittsburgh native Ben Kehoe grew up with best friend Mike Egan as well as twin brother Andy Kehoe, a famed artist in his own right. Ben’s surrealist comical folk-influenced art shows a love of US Civil War history, Medieval Art and Feudalism, as well as a passion for the Autumn months. His rich natural browns and attention to the detail of dead leaves shows a detail seen more often in indie comics than fine art.
